About two years ago, while looking for some furniture to decorate her new apartment, Kelly looked for some inspiration on her childhood memories. Born and raised in Brazil, her house was decorated with the most natural and beautiful elements sourced from different art studios. Everything was handcrafted by the most skilled local artists. From carved wood beds and tables to hand weaved French cane chairs. French cane has always been Kelly's favorite furniture pattern. A mix of sophistication, versatility and timelessness.
At that time, the idea of transforming the French cane into handbags came to her mind, and she decided to search through the web to check if there were any bags available made with that material. She could not find any. From there, the design idea started to develop.
Kelly grew up in a family of four girls. Her grandfather was a male clothing designer and tailor. One of Kelly's most proud sayings is: "His tailoring was so perfect that anyone could wear his designs inside out and no one would even notice it". Kelly would spend hours just watching her grandfather come out with a design, take measurements, cut the fabric and sew the pieces into his masterpiece.
Kelly's father was also involved in the fashion industry. He was a businessman who owned a textile distribution company. "I grew up running around rolls of fabric and at the age of seven, I could name most of them. I was always looking for that left over piece of fabric that I could be allowed to use to make my dolls some clothes".
The French Cane Collection is Kelly's Debut as a designer. It is a tribute to her childhood memories. This luxury collection evokes timeless elegance with impeccable quality and painstaking techniques.
